Favorite Hygiene Products

Hygiene; noun
Conditions or practices conductive to maintaining health and preventing disease, especially through cleanliness.

Proganix Quench Shampoo and Conditioner
I recently purchased this shampoo and conditioner at Target because I had a Cartwheel coupon, but I've been a huge fan of Proganix products for a while. This shampoo and conditioner makes my hair super soft and leaves my hair feeling so clean.

YesTo Activated Charcoal Soap and Angels on Bare Skin Cleanser
I first use the activated charcoal soap to take off my makeup. You can read me rave about this soap more here.
The Angels on Bare Skin cleanser leaves my face so soft and clean.

YesTo Grapefruit Rejuvenating Body Wash
I've tried other body washes before but I always seem to come back to this one. My skin feels super clean and it leaves my bathroom smelling like delicious grapefruit.

Vaseline Spray & Go Moisturizer
Immediately after I get out of the shower, I spray myself with this moisturizer. It's easy and fast and it doesn't leave my hands greasy. The aloe is especially good for razor burn.

Tom's of Maine Antiplaque and Whitening Toothpaste
I'm one of those people that like to brush their teeth in the shower. I love this toothpaste because it cleans my teeth so well and leaves my breath smelling fresh.

Argan Oil or Morocco Penetrating Oil, Keratin Oil Instant Repair Healing Oil, Argan Oil of Morocco Voluminous Mousse
I don't blow dry my hair every day because I don't want to damage it, but when I do, I use these products. I first use one of the oils and concentrate it on the ends of my hair and then work whatever is left on my hands throughout the rest of my hair. Then, I add a little bit of voluminous mousse onto the palm of my hand and do the same thing I did with the oil. Then I just go ahead and blow dry my hair but I don't blow dry it all the way. I blow dry my hair until it's a little damp and it won't break off my hair when I comb through it.

Then after I'm all clean I go ahead and start my night time skin care routine, which you can find here. It is a little out of date so I'll have to update it soon for you.

What are some of your favorite hygiene products?

Homemade Hamburger Helper

I don't remember where I found this recipe, but since I had all of the ingredients, I decided to try it out!

You'll need:
1 lb. ground beef
2 1/2 cups milk
1 1/2 cup hot water
2 cups elbow macaroni
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 tablespoon chili powder
2 teaspoons garlic powder
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
3/4 teaspoon paprika
1/4 teaspoon cayanne pepper
Pinch crushed red pepper flakes
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

Heat large skillet over medium heat. Brown meat until cooked through.

I added a little butter in the skillet while I was cooking the meat because that's the way I like it.

Once the meat is cooked all the way through, go ahead and add the pasta, milk, hot water and spices.

My pan must have been too small, so I just dumped a little bit of the liquids out to make it easier to stir everything.

Bring to boil and turn heat down to simmer. Cook for 10-12 minutes or until pasta is al dente.

Add cheese and stir to combine. I added a little bit of the cheese at a time so it was easier to mix together and I knew for sure that the cheese was being mixed all the way through.

I think it ended up being pretty good. A little too spicy for my taste, but it was great nonetheless!

Let me know if you try this recipe out for yourself and how it turned out!

#DearMe; A Letter To My Younger Self

I know that tons of people are doing this on YouTube, but I still feel like this is important to get out because maybe I'll be able to help someone younger than I am, or maybe even someone older than me, so they can be the happiest that they can be.

Dear Hailey,

No matter what anybody else says, you're beautiful and everything is going to be ok. You're going through a rough time right now, but trust me, it gets better.

Your skin is freaking out right now because it's called puberty. Everybody goes through it and deals with it differently. Don't listen to the hateful words that people are saying, they may be going through some tough stuff as well.

Don't try to fit in. You're weird and awesome and funny. Find friends that support you and don't bring unnecessary negativity to your life. That extra stress isn't needed. Focus on finishing school with good grades. Your education is your future.

It's ok to be sad, that's part of life. Don't hurt yourself because in the end, everything is going to be fine. Remove yourself from whatever negative situation you're going through and breathe. Just calm down...

You don't need to go to college because you think it's right. Work full time and then you can figure out what you want to do later on. Don't put yourself through something you don't like. You're just wasting time.

Hey guess what?! You're 23 now and you're happy. See? All the stupid shit you went through in high school wasn't worth it. It was HIGH SCHOOL! You have people all around you that care about you. You should've just spent more time with your family and your dog. They're the ones that made you the happiest. Now, you live with awesome people and you're doing things that you enjoy.

Just be yourself. Be happy.

How To Successfully Clean Out Your Closet

There comes a time, at least in my life, where I get so frustrated with the clothes that are in my closet and I have this constant urge to just throw everything away and start over. Although, we probably won't be able to get rid of everything in our closets, there's still ways to clean it out and feel good about it. Here's some tips that you can use to successfully clean out your closets.

Actually take the time to do it.
I like to take full days and sometimes even full days to clean out my closets. That way, I'm not rushing to do it and I can concentrate on what I'm doing.

Turn on some good tunes.
Since it will probably take you some time to clean out your closet, turn on some music that will keep you motivated and on track.

Take everything out of your closet.
This way, you'll be able to see everything in front of you. I like to make sure that all of my closet are cleaned and hung up.

Put your clothes into three piles.
Keep. Maybe. Donate.

Ask yourself these questions when going through your piles.
Does it still fit? Will I ever wear this again? Does this item remind me of a time or a person? When was the last time I wore this? If you haven't worn that item within the last 12 months, then it's time to part ways. Also, don't just keep an article of clothing because it reminds you of a time in your life.

Don't overthink.

Go through your "maybe" pile more than once.
You'll be able to fully make a decision but also....

Commit!

Throw away your very worn clothing and donate or sell your gently worn clothing

Quick and Easy: Pizza Quesadilla

You'll need:

Tortillas
Pizza Sauce
Mozzarella Cheese
Parmesan Cheese
Pizza Topping

First you'll want to heat up olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.

Next, spread your pizza sauce on the tortilla shell. Since I like a lot of pizza sauce, I spread it all over the tortilla. If you don't like that much sauce, you can just spread it over half. Then on just one side of the tortilla, place your cheese and whichever pizza toppings you like.

Fold the other side of the tortilla and place onto your skillet.

Once that side has browned, go ahead and flip it over. Continue cooking on that side until the tortilla has browned to your liking and the cheese has melted.

Then enjoy!
I like to make these quesadillas for lunch! Obviously you can change the cheese and add whatever pizza toppings of your choosing.
