DIY Rustic Mugs

You'll Need:

Hot Glue

I started at the handle. I hot glued the first inch of the twine and placed it on the handle. Then I kept wrapping the twine around the handle until it looked like this:

Don't forget to glue down the last inch of twine.

Do the same to the actual cup part of the mug. This time I put hot glue along the first layer of twine so I know for sure that it wouldn't move while I was wrapping the twine around the mug.

Don't worry if you run out of twine before you get done filling up the whole mug. You can just start out the process from where you ended up.

Keep wrapping the twine around the mug until it's covered to your liking.

This next step is optional, but since I made these for my sister and her fiancè for their wedding, I painted a wood heart and wrote "Bride" and "Groom" on them and just hot glued the heart onto the twine!

And that's it! Super easy mugs and they ended up being really cute. My sister found this idea on Pinterest and I was super anxious and excited to try and make these!

New Journals!

I'm kind of a nerd when it comes to writing. I like to make lists and I like to write everything down. I've always been so curious about writing and growing up I always wanted to become a writer.

I've been looking for journals similar to these for quite some time now, so when I saw these on Amazon, I just had to get them.

The Book Lust Journal is this cute little journal where you write down all the books that you read and you can make little comments about them. There's also little sections on passages and quotes from books that you want to remember and another section on books that you want to read in the future! I just cannot wait to fill this journal up.

The Secret Me Journal is filled with all sorts of different questions to fill out. I skimmed through them a little and some of them are quite the head scratcher. In the future when I get my YouTube channel all set up and start doing videos, I really want to take some questions from this journal and make a questions and answers video! But for now, I'll just enjoy filling them out.

These journals are definitely going to kick my love for writing up a peg because sometimes you just need a change of pace from your regular old diary writing.

I hope to share some entries with you soon!

How To Survive Hosting Your First Big Holiday

Hi everyone!

This year, I hosted Christmas Eve for the first time ever. It was quite a bit stressful so I want to share some tips so you don't freak out about hosting a holiday.

Don't be afraid to ask for help. Luckily, my family is really good about offering some ideas on what to bring for food. But, you can always ask people to bring some items, even if they're not food related.

Plan ahead. Decorate your house accordingly and make sure there's things to do while you're not eating or opening presents or whatever you're doing that holiday. Map out where you're going to put tables, because you'll need places for everyone to sit.

Do your research. Find out how long a turkey needs to thaw out and how long it needs to cook. Also, find some really nice recipes and try to perfect them before the big day!

Don't stress out too much. All of this seems really stressful, but when you have everything you need all ready and some family or friends to help you out, it's not bad at all. Holidays are for enjoying with your family, so just remember that!

New Year's "Resolutions"

Hi everyone and welcome to 2015!

I've got to say, I'm not a huge fan of making resolutions because I feel that if you want to change something, you shouldn't wait until a new year to start it. You should do it as soon as you think of it. But I'm sitting in my living room while listening to the Serial Podcast and thinking, there are some things that I would like to change and accomplish this year and I would like to share them with you and I would like you to share your "resolutions" with me too! Maybe we can encourage each other to finish our goals!

1. Start working out more. I've never been too obsessed with my weight but lately I have noticed that I'm not as in shape as I used to be. I bought a new treadmill a while ago and it's just been in my basement collecting dust the last couple of months. I know that this is a resolution that everyone does but they stop going at the end of February but this is for sure one that I would like to accomplish. After all, I do have my sister's wedding in May that I would like to be in shape for. So maybe if I could lose a few inches by then, that would be great!

If you need some inspiration for your weight loss goals this year, let's follow each other on the Pump Up app so we can encourage each other to work out! My username is misshaileykb!

2. Start writing a journal. I'm a huge fan of writing and even though I haven't written a journal since I was maybe 9 years old, I would like to start again. Maybe it will help me get my mind off of things, maybe I can find my writer's bug again. Who knows, but I love to write about anything and everything. Maybe I'll even share a couple entries with you all!

3. Stop being so lazy. This goes hand in hand with #1 but I feel like I've gotten really lazy over the past couple of years and maybe that's where I started to get out of shape. I hate having a dirty house but I'll wait days and sometimes weeks or months to clean something up (disgusting, I know but I'm trying to change!)

4. Start eating better. I've had a lot of health issues lately (nothing serious, don't worry!) and I think it's tied to the crap that I eat. I've found a lot of interesting and healthy recipes that I'm really excited to try out and I feel like that's a huge step into starting to eat healthy.

5. Start saving money! I'm so horrible at this that it's not even funny. Does anybody have any advice they want to share with me about this?! I could use any help that you have!

6. Start up my YouTube channel. I've been trying to accomplish this goal for about a year now. I know what I would like to post up and it will be linked to this blog, too so I won't forget about you! I'm still trying to save up my money for a new camera and I have a feeling that after that, it will be smooth sailing with my channel!

There's just a few goals that I have for this year and I really hope to accomplish them all. I hope you all have a safe and fun new year and I hope you accomplish everything that you would like to accomplish!

What are your goals for 2015?

(P.S. if you ever need advice on anything and everything, please send me a message on my Tumblr. You have the option to be anonymous if you would like!)
