Bossypants Book Review

In my opinion, Tina Fey is one of the funniest female comedians out there. From watching her on Saturday Night Live to Mean Girls and then to 30 Rock, she just always makes me laugh out loud and this book proves it, too.

This book is the perfect amount of equal parts about her earlier years, writing and acting on SNL and 30 Rock and then throw some parenting in there. I'm not sure if I was overthinking this book, but she gives some very smart life advice. Here's an example:

"You can't be that kid standing at the top of the waterslide, overthinking it. You have to go down the chute."

Along with some amazing life advice, she even throws in some of her own (surprisingly good) fashion and skin care/ beauty tips.

Some of my favorite sections of this book include "My Honeymoon Or A Supposedly Fun Thing I'll Never Do Again Either" (which is absolutely laugh out loud funny), "Dear Internet" where she must have searched her name or something and answered a few questions targeted at her that she found online and just how she got to become Sarah Palin in the SNL skits.

I recommend this book to mostly women (but men can also read this book, too) because it's empowering in its own way and like I said earlier, it's laugh out loud funny. When I read this, I could not help but picture Liz Lemon's voice and personality.

Have you read this book yet?

September Ipsy Unboxing

Hello everyone! It's been a little while since a new post and I apologize but here we go with September's Ipsy! Don't forget to review your products on their website to earn points!

This organic cruelty-free facial cleanser hydrates, smoothes and replenishes the skin while cleansing without drying or irritating the skin. Although I've only used this product once, I can say that it isn't my favorite. I like to use facial cleanser that leave my skin feeling like it was completely buffed and new again. I will use this sample until it's empty, though. I do like that it's fragrance- free because I'd rather not have my face smelling like flowers unless I want it to.

This hand cream is blended with Vitamin E, shea butter and english honey. I cannot decide if I like this hand cream or not yet. The smell is just "alright" and when I put it on my hands, right away it makes them feel worse but then after awhile they feel a little better and then back to feeling dry again. I will not purchase this product and I don't think I'll even finish this sample to be honest.

I received this Cailyn lipgloss in the color "Love Affair" and while it is a very pretty color, I feel like it goes onto my lips unevenly but all you need is a couple of more layers to get it right. I do enjoy this lipgloss a lot. It isn't sticky at all and it left my lips a nice berry shade rather than the red. I don't think I'll purchase this lipgloss after the sample is done with mainly because I have too many lipglosses in a shade similar to this one.

(A few more pictures so you can actually kind of see the color)

Pacifica is slowly started to become my new favorite product brand and this is an example as to why. I got this water-proof eyeliner in the color "Gun Metal" and it is so beautiful and it went on nicely. I forgot to take a picture of it on, but you can find out for yourself how awesome it is. It made my blue eyes look so intensely pretty. I will definitely have to try this eyeliner in different colors!

This is the Infinity Shadow/ Crease Duet Brush and when I saw a double sided brush like this because I was a little skeptical only because I didn't know how it was going to sit in my makeup brush cup holder (I know, weird) but I love it! It's two brushes in one which will be really nice for traveling and it's so easy to blend using this brush. Very soft hairs and the crease side is perfect for putting eyeshadow on the bottom lashes!

I Like You Just The Way I Am Book Review

When I was searching Amazon for a new book to buy, I came upon I Like You Just The Way I Am written by Jenny Mollen and I'm not going to lie, after I read that she was married to Jason Biggs that's when I decided to give this book a go and I'm SO glad that I did.

This book had me laughing out loud on almost every page and that's really hard for me to do while reading something but this book was just that funny.

Jenny wants to be loved by everybody and she will literally hold nothing back in order to achieve said person's love. Whether it's her dog, her parents, her husband's ex-girlfriend or even her therapist, she wants them to love her.

This book is about being "one" with your crazy side and learning that it's ok to be yourself, because you are awesome (and probably crazy). Jenny is so messed up in all of the right ways. I feel like after reading this book, I know everything about her and I still want to be her best friend.

And hey parents! She also gives you advice on how to parent so your children don't grow up wanting to be actors!

I'm so very impressed with this book and I suggest you pick it up ASAP (as possible). You won't regret it and it'll have you laughing just as much as I was.

September Birchbox Unboxing

Hello everyone! It's my favorite time of the month!

Don't forget to review your Birchbox items to receive points!

Pixi Shea Butter Lip Balm

I got this in the shade Ripe Raspberry and it is such a beautiful color! This lip balm is super hydrating and I feel like it looks perfect on my skin tone! Love this and I cannot wait to get more colors!

Ruffian Nail Lacquer

I got this nail polish in the shade Ruffian Naked and it is so pretty! It dried very quickly after I applied it and it was so shiny on my finger nails! But I ended up taking it all off within the hour using this next product I got in my Birchbox:

Ruffian Dressing Room Perfumed Nail Lacquer Remover Towelette
I'm not a big fan of this, to be honest. It took off the nail polish nicely and hydrated my fingers but after it kind of dried, it made my fingers feel very weird. After the nail polish was removed though, I did not even see it on the towelette which was very cool. I don't think I'll be purchasing this product.

Ofra Universal Eyebrow Pencil
I've gotten this eyebrow pencil before, maybe in my Ipsy bag, but I love this eyebrow pencil so much so I'm not worried about it. It goes nicely with my real eyebrow colors and it lasts all day long.

Number 4 Hair Super Combo Prep & Protect
I usually take my showers or baths at night so when I wake up in the morning, my hair is usually all crazy but when I used this, I woke up and my hair was perfect! This leave-in conditioner left my hair so soft and shiny! I will definitely be purchasing after this sample size is over with.

Mereadesso All-In-One Moisturizer
I'm so in love with the packaging of this moisturizer. You lift up a tab in the back and to close it all you do is press the tab down. I don't know, I just thought it was super cool. This is a "one-step" formula so it's perfect for an anti-aging day/night cream, serum, eye cream, toner and primer. I used it at night and it absorbed so nicely into my skin. I have yet to try this moisturizer before my makeup but I'm sure it'll make it look even nicer.

I've been so stoked about books recently and I think it's because the last couple of books I have read have been absolutely amazing. If you have read any of these books before, please comment down below and let me know how they are or if there's another book I should add to my list!

*Also not listed (because it would be too much) every book by Chelsea Handler, Lauren Conrad and of course, Stephen King*

A Few Of My (Recent) Favorite Things

Hello everyone! I just wanted to share some items that I have been loving as of late.
I hope you enjoy! xo

Bodycology Exfoliating Sugar Scrub in Toasted Sugar
I picked this up at Target a while ago and I used it to shave my legs with. As you can see, it is completely empty. It left my legs feeling so smooth that I didn't want to stop touching them. Of course, it's going to dull your razor out quicker, but I just loved how my skin felt after.

Coui Skincare Vitamin C Serum
I saw this on Amazon and I had to try it. It's a cruelty free anti-aging formula serum and even though it smells bad, I felt like it hydrated my skin and my pores seem to be a lot smaller than before I used this. I'm not sure if it's for acne, but it seems to have cleared up my skin.  Even though it is my favorite, I might try a different serum when this stuff runs out but it is definitely my favorite part of my skin care routine!

Freeman Feeling Beautiful Face Masks
I have these in Avocado & Oatmeal as well as Charcoal & Black Sugar. I found both of these at CVS and there are a lot more different kinds that I would like to try. They both smell so incredible and I love wearing these. My skin feels so nice and smooth. Be sure to add these to your at- home spa day routine!

Candy Shoppe Scented Soy Candle
If you follow me on Instagram, you will see that I like to post pictures of new candles that I buy! (And if you don't follow me on Instagram, you probably should.) I love a good smelling candle and this is definitely one of my favorite. This is in the scent Watermelon Twist and omg does this smell like candy! Sometimes I won't even light it and I'll just smell it but of course if smells so much better when it's lit. I picked this up on sale at Target and I will definitely get more scents of this type of candle.

Sonia Kashuk's Limited Edition Brushes
Sonia Kashuk recently celebrated their 15 years of award winning brushes and I can see why! To be honest, I only purchases these brushes so I could have one of them but I'm so glad I bought them all. These "deep eggplant purple" brushes are so nice and soft, I can see why these brushes have sold out fast! There's brushes for literally everything! I found these at Target for $40, but be sure to scoop them up right away before these sell out!

What have been your favorite products lately?

#GIRLBOSS Book Review

I don't know how else to start off this post other than Sophia Amoruso is Queen B or in this case, the ultimate #GIRLBOSS.

"A #GIRLBOSS takes her life seriously without taking herself too seriously. She takes chances and takes responsibility on her own terms. She knows when to throw punches and when to roll with them. When to button up and when to let her freak flag fly."

I was so in love with this book from the very first sentence and I didn't want it to end, ever. I wish I had a little Sophia Amoruso in my pocket to give me advice or encouragement whenever I need it. This book was so powerful to me that it had me thinking "damn, I could totally do this if I set my mind to it" the whole entire time. In this book she gives so much advice on starting your own business, fashion advice, financial endeavors and even how to interview and how your resume should be.

From the beginning I was so jealous of her life but in a way she gave me advice on how to improve mine. She tells how she started Nasty Gal from eBay and eventually built it up to the multimillion dollar company that it is today. It's so crazy to think that she started Nasty Gal with no debit to her name and without borrowing any money. It gave me a whole new view on Nasty Gal and has made me love the online store even more.

I have a feeling that I will be talking about this book for months. I don't want to give too much away, so I encourage you all to read it and really think about the things that she's saying in this book. Sophia is the smartest woman in the business and I have so much respect for her.

"Bad bitches are taking over the world. When I walk into the Nasty Gal offices, it's clear: Busting your butt isn't just for the wallflowers anymore. We've arrived, and we're killing it."

Good luck to you and your adventures, #GIRLBOSSes, don't take shit from anyone.

How To Have A Spa Day At Home (Plus Recipes!)

We all deserve to have a little relaxation time alone but sometimes we can't afford to splurge on going to a spa every week so I've put together some ways that I have a spa day at home!

Have a candle lit bubble bath. Nothing is more relaxing than taking a bubble bath in the dark. If you don't have a bathtub, then just turn your shower into a sauna by turning the temperature up.

Mint Sugar Scrub:
1/2 Cup coconut oil
1 1/2- 2 Cups sugar
1 tablespoon peppermint extract
1 drop green food coloring

Coconut Lime Scrub
1 Cup raw sugar
2 tbs. coconut oil (softened)
1 lime

Apply a hair mask. After all the damage you've put onto your hair from blowdrying, straightening and curling it's nice to show your hair a little TLC.

Avocado and Honey Hair Mask:
1 whole avocado
1 teaspoon honey
1 tablespoon olive oil

Banana, Almond and Honey Hair Mask:
1/2 banana
2 tablespoons honey
Few drops of Almond oil

Apply a face mask. It'll wash out all of the makeup and dirt from your pores.

DIY Mud Mask:
2-3 tablespoons Greek yogurt
1 tsp. cocoa powder
1 tsp. buttermilk
1/4- 1/2 banana- smashed
1 tsp. honey
1 tsp. lemon juice

Thyme Pimple Cream:
2 drops Thyme essential oil
1 teaspoon skin friendly oil
2 teaspoons baking soda

Activated Charcoal Mask:
2 tsp. activated charcoal
1 tsp. Rosewater
1 tsp. aloe vera gel

Whiten your teeth!

Finish your skincare routine. This is when I like to pluck my eyebrows, put on some acne treatment and massage in some face serum!

Give yourself a mani/ pedi! This will save you a ton of money if you do it yourself instead of going to a salon to get them done.

Watch some movies or catch up on your favorite t.v. show!

Don't forget to moisturize!

Shea Butter Lotion:
1 Cup raw, unrefined shea butter
1 Cup raw cocoa butter
1/2 Cup raw virgin coconut oil
1 tbs. orange essential oil

Peppermint Body Butter:
6 oz. coconut oil
2 oz. cocoa butter
Peppermint essential oil
Red food coloring

Lip Scrub:
1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon honey
1 teaspoon olive oil
1 teaspoon vaseline
Food coloring
